Pattern: McCall's DIY Style Misses' Tops and Panties #M6128
Fabric: Rayon/Lycra blend + decorative elastic
Cost: $1 (Check out Fabric R Us if you're in the Bay Area for a great deal on supplies!)
This pattern may be the first ever to actually be as quick to make as I thought it would be. I sat down one evening and casually snipped out the pattern pieces and was done in a matter of hours. The only hard thing about it is sewing the elastic on to the fabric, which takes patience, a steady hand, and a tolerance for imperfection.
The problem, however, is that I'm not crazy about how these panties fit. I'd show you a picture but, looking at the ones I've taken, I don't think I want them floating around on the internets. The front is very small. While the back is actually fine in size, the extra fabric piece they had me cut for the crotch added bulk and makes them a little droopy. So while they are super comfortable and wearable, I think I'm going to play around with them a little until I find something a bit more attractive. I'm thinking of combining this pattern with McCall's DIY style bathing suit pattern, which makes its bottom with a front and back instead of a front, back and crotch.
