Blog Celebration and Giveaway!

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks to all who participated!

A sewing/blogging goal of mine for this year has been to get more involved in the online sewing community - getting to know some more people and taking advantage of what you all have to offer. This week, I reached a milestone with 200 followers! More than a vanity thing (200 people like me? Maybe? Sorta?), having followers and following other people's blogs helps create that strong community where people comment with advice, support, and inspiration! It has been so much fun watching that activity grow on my little blog, and am so grateful for all the love and input I've received from this amazing community.

So, to celebrate this growing network, today I am doing a pattern giveaway from a company that is brand new to the community: one lucky winner will receive a free pdf copy of Thread Theory's inaugural pattern, the Newcastle Cardigan! The pattern just became available for sale today, so if you don't win the pattern here, all you have to do is hop on over to their pattern store and get one for yourself! Here's my version, below:

To enter to win the Newcastle Cardigan Pattern:

If you already follow my blog, just leave a comment below telling me what you'd like to sew for the men in your life! Bonus entry if you tell me if you start to follow, or already do follow, the Thread Theory blog!

If you're new to the blog, please follow me on the reader of your choice (I recommend Bloglovin!) to help my sewing community grow! Comment to let me know you're a new follower, and tell me what you'd like to sew for the men in your life. Bonus entry if you tell me if start to follow, or already do follow, the Thread Theory blog!

The contest will close in one week on Wednesday at 10am PST. As it is a printable pdf pattern, this contest is open to anyone in the world!

Good luck, and happy sewing!

  1. Great giveaway, thanks! I have been following Thread Theory, and you, on my RSS reader. I want to try making jeans for my husband, but I'm super-intimidated!

  2. Haha I have a list! The men's minoru, the Colette negroni and some more shorts. I really need to get to blogging about those shorts too! He loves the pair I made. Things got a little too busy for blogging and sewing when I decided to make the man in my life official and get married! Now that that's sorted hopefully the sewing takes off. I think he would look good in this cardy as well! Congrats on 200! X

  3. Congrats Meg! I'm already a follower and I was super excited to see Thread Theory start up. I really love their patterns and it's hard to get me excited and wanting to sew menswear! But I would totally make any of their designs, especially this cardigan. I'm not sure if my husband would wear it (he like to play off the whole "I'm too manly for a coat" and wears shorts sleeves in 30 degree weather...) but I have been wanting to make a button down shirt for him just so I can learn how it's done.

Your version of the Newcastle looks awesome! I really love those leather details at the shoulders.

  4. Great giveaway... It's so hard to find decent menswear patterns. I've got shorts cut out for the mister right now.

  5. Congrats Meg! You probably have a lot more followers though, as Bloglovin' is just one platform! I'd love to win the cardigan, it would be so nice to sew something for Stef other than hoodies and longsleeves. (Negroni is coming...) I just started following Thread Theory and have been following you for aaages :)

  7. Hooray for Men's patterns! I'd love to make my fiancee a dapper outfit - preferrably with corduroy or tweed. However this pattern would be a great start seeing as I've never sewn for him!

  12. I love this pattern! I am always trying to dress up my boyfriend, and while it doesn't bother him, there are certain items of clothing that he will NOT wear. This cardigan is right up his alley, though!
