Peggy Pocket Skirt

Pattern: Bluegingerdoll's Peggy Skirt
Materials: 1 yd chambray
Cost: remnants!

Last week, I had the pleasure of testing Bluegingerdoll's third pattern, the Peggy Skirt! The Peggy Skirt is a cute A-line skirt with a bit of flair, and comes with three adorable waistband options.

This ended up being the perfect skirt for me to sew up right now because a) I'd been needing a good basic to add to my wardrobe, and b) I didn't have much time to sew besides the sewing contest. Luckily for me, Peggy landed in my lap as a pattern tester, and the whole thing sewed up in just 4-5 hours. It is the perfect beginner pattern, and I already have plans to sew it up again with a friend who's a beginner sewist and loves vintage style.

I also adore how it looks and hangs on me, tucked in like on the website or under a drapey sweater. I was so pleased I actually wore it to work the very next day, riding my bike and I all. I can definitely back up Abby's claims that it really is a perfect every day skirt!

It also has some adorable details, to the option for a detailed waistband to these very cute button tabs. Here's my back tab, which I think is an earlier version of the pattern. The instructions say to use the prettiest button you can find, and luckily one of my sewing friends had sent me the perfect one!

What's even better than a new skirt? The paper pattern ships for free and, through October 11th, you can get 10% off using the code PRETTYPEGGY2013!
