Remember my Plantain shirt? More like PLAIN-tain shirt. In fact, it is so simple I nearly forgot that I had already shared it with you!
Well, I was a little bored one night (with the shirt? with life?), and so I grabbed my fabric marker, printed out some letters, and traced out my favorite TV sewing slogan. The fabric is sheer enough that you can juuuust make out the letters if you stick the printed sheet underneath. It took about 30 minutes, and I had a brand new novelty shirt when I was done.
I love wearing over-sized t-shirts tucked into my orange skirt, so that's exactly what I did for this one. And since the weather has been really great lately, I had Mr. K snap these pics before we headed down to the lake for a picnic. Warm weather and comfy clothes make me a happy girl!
If you're thinking about trying this, I am sad to report that the marker did a fade a bit in the wash. We'll have to see if I like the faded look or if I need to think of a different solution. But for now, make it work!
Couldn't agree more - warm weather and comfy clothes are the perfect combo!
ReplyDeleteCute! I love the idea. And it really does look awesome with the orange skirt.
ReplyDeletei have used jacquard's textile paints and had good results. you will have to heat set it and they recommend waiting a week or two before you wash it to let the color really set in.
ReplyDeleteGood advice. And honestly I wore this a couple times before washing it, so waiting a week or two to wash isn't a big deal ;)
