Creamsicle Baby Dress

Pattern: See Kate Sew's Baby Dress
Fabric: 1/2 yd cotton lawn
Cost: remnant (from way back when)

Everybody's having babies! Not just in my office, it seems, but in blogland as well. Just the other morning, not ONE but TWO Made by Rae dresses popped up on my blog roll, first from House of Pinheiro, and then from A Stitching Odyssey.

Both versions were so lovely I almost went with that pattern, but I decided to stick with an oldie and make my second version of See Kate Sew's Baby Dress (the first one can be found here). Baby A is just over 3 months now, so I hope it fits her soon! They say she's a big baby, but I just have not idea what baby sizing looks like.

Regardless of size, babies always have the cutest little fingers, little toes. And what I like about this pattern are the little details. The first step is to make these cute little ruched straps, which are just woven fabric with elastic.

Like the last version, I hemmed the edge with a scalloped stitch.

Finally, I finished it all off with some neat little french seams.

A cute, satisfying little project for a cute little one (and it's free!).

  1. Very cute! I love the idea of using the scollop edge... don't know why I haven't thought of it before.
