Fabric: 1.5 yds scuba knit
Cost: $15
I am trying out the iPhone blogger app to post to you from the island of Maui! After a year of planning, Mr. Made and I have made off with our families to the beautiful Napili Shores and are enjoying some much-anticipated surf and sun.
Originally I had wanted to make all of us ladies this Pinterest beach cover-up (http://pinterest.com/pin/208924870189349828/), which looked simple enough but ended up being a bit of a Pinterest fail. Frustrated, I decided to use one of the pieces of fabric for myself with a simple TNT pattern, BurdaStyle's Printed Blouse 08/2012 #109. It came together quickly, was an easy make, and got me my sewing mojo back.
This dress was specifically made for the Christmas Eve luau we booked at the Royal Hawaiian. We did our best impression of Hawaiian tourists, with Mr. Made donning a ridiculous over-sized Hawaiian shirt to match. The luau was a bit hoakey but lots of fun, and I was thankful for my knit dress when I thoroughly over-ate.
The dress was actually so comfy that I've been wearing it around a few days since then, too. Hallelujah for easy knit dresses! The dart shaping of the pattern also makes for a very nice fit that I might need to use again.
Hope you all are enjoying your holidays! Aloha!
