Pattern: nonexistent and completely lacking
Fabric: something very shiny and cheap
My first foray back into sewing in college actually began with a Little Mermaid costume for Halloween. I borrowed my friend's machine, lugged it the 5 blocks to my apartment, and kept my roommate up late into the night with the humming of the needle and bobbin. The final product was dubious, the process lacking any form of pattern and the material being one of the most difficult to work with. The corset is also decidedly slutty, despite my attempts to make it more body-covering than a typical Aerial sea shell bra. I do, however, like the fins, which are boned with hangers and attached to an American Apparel tube skirt (dress?) in sparkly blue.
